Some of the followers of Jesus had been listening to His teaching and they didn’t like what He was saying. They said it was just too hard and they turned their back on Him and left. Jesus asked the question of His disciples who were left. –‘Do you also want to leave?’ (John 6:66-67).
His teaching is still hard for us today and some will turn their back.
Do YOU want to leave?
Lord Jesus, Bread of life,
when you ask, ‘Do YOU want to leave?’
I don’t need to ‘phone a friend,
go fifty fifty,
ask the audience.
I have come to believe and know
that you are the Holy One of God.
Lord Jesus, Bread of life,
when you ask, ‘Do YOU want to leave?’
I don’t need to enter a lottery,
choose special numbers,
keep my fingers crossed.
I have come to believe and know
that you are the Holy One of God.
Lord Jesus, Bread of life,
when you ask, ‘Do YOU want to leave?’
I don’t need to read the star signs,
or shake a dice,
or toss a coin.
I have come to believe and know
that you are the Holy One of God.
Lord Jesus, Bread of life,
keep me close to you.
You don’t promise fame and fortune, or an easy time,
but you do promise life in all its fullness.
Thank you.
Amen.
Lord you are the Holy One of God, the Messiah, the one who came to sacrifice your life so that we might be forgiven, experience abundant life here and now and spend eternity with You. Keep us faithful to Your Word and may we always stay close to You. Amen
