In 2008, two friends, both with MS as their disability, met at the Sue Ryder Home in Ipswich and each had a vision of bringing disabled Christians together for friendship and spiritual support.
Under the Christian charity “Through the Roof” they formed the Ipswich branch of the Disabled Christian’s Fellowship.
The Aims of our Disabled Christian’s Fellowship
To help keep each other close to God and be a blessing to others,
both able-bodied and disabled;
to enjoy each other’s company, provide friendship and prayer;
to evangelise to all in whatever way or circumstance as we are led by the Lord.
Although small in number the fellowship has continued to meet once a month at St. Andrew’s Church, Britannia Road, Ipswich IP4 5HF, for 1 ½ hours on the 1st Wednesday of the month (excluding August) starting at 10.30 am.
We meet:
sometimes for prayer and conversation, tea/coffee and biscuits;
sometimes to listen to speakers bringing Christian insight into so many issues;
occasionally a speaker will highlight a particular issue regarding disability;
a Summer outing, a Christmas party;
but mainly to just be together – something to look forward to each month.
Does this appeal to you?
It is an “open meeting” to all who feel the need to share their experiences of life in a Christian community.
We cannot offer transport or be responsible for care. If you require personal care, we ask that your carer accompanies you to a meeting.
St. Andrew’s is an easily accessible church building with disabled facilities.
