We have recently had “issues” with our domestic plumbing, and I’m hoping that by the time this TFTD is published the “issues” will be resolved!
The story starts many years ago, possibly even before we moved into the house 27 years ago. We had to call on the “Drain Doctor” around 7 years ago and naively assumed that all was OK. Unfortunately over recent weeks there has been a recurrence of the “issue” and once again the “Drain Doctor” was called out. This time there were cameras and much water jetting, all to no avail. We needed “surgery” to resolve the “issue.”
One question I ask myself, was there anything we could or should have done to prevent the “issue” occurring, possibly not?
In life do we sometimes allow the bad things to build up, ignoring tell tale signs that things are not flowing as smoothly as they should?
What can we do to keep things from building up and causing problems?
Unlike our domestic plumbing, our spiritual plumbing can be kept clean by regular flushing away of the rubbish that builds up. Coming before God to confess our wrongdoing helps to keep out hearts and minds clear, it can be done anytime and is free at the point of use.
In Psalm 51 the psalmist says: “create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit in me. Do not cast from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit , to sustain me.”
Prayer: Forgive us, Lord, when we ignore your wisdom and allow wrong things to clog us up and put a barrier to the flow of your Holy Spirit. Thank you that you create clean hearts, you restore us with the living water of your Son, Jesus Christ, and your Holy Spirit can flow freely once again. Amen
