If you have read any of my TFTDs in the past you will know Bill the boxer. Today I want to introduce you to Cheddar the miniature labradoodle. She is my son in Australia’s dog, and we met her for the first time on this trip. She became affectionately known as “Cheddy bear,” as she is just like a cuddly teddy bear.
But do not be deceived! This cute dog spends her entire time on the beach chasing and burying her favourite blue ball, which often has to be chased far down the beach if the wind is blowing.
Unlike her boxer “cousin” who has to travel in the boot of the car, this little dog travels in her own “open top box” which is secured to the back seat. She is dutifully clipped in and so cannot make an escape, so you would think.
When they set off on a journey, my son opens the car window slightly so that she can stick her head out and have the wind in her face. Apparently on one occasion, just as they arrived at the beach, my son stopped the car and turned round to see Cheddar suspended completely outside the car window. (Fortunately she was unharmed if a little windswept!)
In our faith do we allow the Holy Spirit to blow through us and excite us? Do we let the Holy Spirit blow those “cobwebs” away, leaving us feeling enlivened and emboldened? What is it that holds us back? Sometimes we might need holding back, to simply allow the Spirit to work through us.
Prayer: Thank you God that you send your Holy Spirit to guide us. Let us welcome your breath to blow through us and to set us free. Thank you that we can feel enlivened and emboldened, but that there are also times when we can sit back and rest in your Spirit.
