All His ways are just

In a recent Bible app daily reading, I was confronted with the longest passage I can ever recall – 63 verses. Though I much prefer a short passage, I appreciate why so many verses were selected. The opening phrase of this contribution was taken from one verse out of the 63. It reminded me of the words of a Christian song and verse 4 of Deuteronomy 32 states, He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all His ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is He.

This verse is part of a “conversation” God had with Moses and included in a “song” that God told Moses to write down, to teach it to the Israelites and have them sing it!

This long passage, in one Bible translation, is headed “Israel’s rebellion predicted”. It is an insight into God’s knowledge of the future behaviour of the nation, and yet God’s promise to take them to the Promised Land would be fulfilled despite all the failures.

As I look back over a long life, there are many instances where I regret things I have said or done, my wavering faith and yet amidst all the uncertainties in the world, and the church today, there is a greater awareness of God’s faithfulness and the constant encouragement that the hymn writer shared in a simple phrase, “Even when my faith may falter, He will hold me fast”.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, thank you for your love, grace and mercy constantly demonstrated in our relationship with you. AMEN
