When I pulled back my kitchen curtains on Wednesday morning I was surprised and delighted to see a beautiful robin sitting on my fence. We very seldom see small birds in our garden as there are so many seagulls and pigeons.
When I lived in Northern Ireland there were two robins who seemed to spend most of their time in my garden. I called them Robbie and Bobby as one of them had a different mark on his redbreast. They would allow me to get very close to them but not quite close enough to eat out of my hand. I’m hoping that my recent visitor will come back.
I love the saying, “When robins appear, loved ones are near.” I don’t think robins are mentioned by name in the Bible but birds, in general, are. We are told that God knows each bird, just as he knows each of us by name. Are robins His messengers from heaven? Some may believe that they are and some may not but what we can be assured of is that we are all God’s creation and even though we can’t see God we can feel his presence.
I certainly felt a feeling of joy and warmth when I saw the little robin and it gives me hope.
