Jesus Said : I am the way, the truth and the life

Those who follow Rev Joan’s Facebook page will have seen her lovely collection of photographs.  One which caught my eye recently was the photograph of the Way of Life sculpture in Ely Cathedral.  It brought back memories as Ray and I went there not long after it had been erected and it is really magnificent.  It is well worth a visit to the Cathedral to see it.

Many people today wear jewellery with the tree of life on it – pendants, earrings, rings, broaches, etc.  They are very pretty but I wonder if some of those who wear them just think they are pretty or even look behind the meaning.

When we visited the Holy Land we were taken on our tour to the Upper Room and in it there is a tree of life.  I don’t remember very much about the room; it was very empty apart from this tree of life.

Jesus said that he was the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

We are all seeking a life worth living and a novelist’s character said “I never knew what life was until I saw it in your eyes”.  This is what Jesus does – he makes life worth living and said, “I have come that you might have life and have it in all its fullness”.  He brings a quality to our life to make us fully alive.

An inscription on our shortbread tin under the picture of a black Scottie dog reads:

“He‘ll be your guard night and day.
Your faithful pal on life’s highway”.

I know dogs (and other pets!) are our faithful pals but so is Jesus. So, remember my quote from my shortbread tin – sorry all the biscuits have gone!
