Advent 22

Isaiah 9: 6-7 “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be upon his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever.”

As we come nearer to Christmas, the last minute preparations are in place, the tree spruced up, the presents wrapped, and those last minute purchases made – I always forget the puff pastry for the obligatory sausage rolls! Almost there.

Let us take a moment to sit back and forget the baubles on the tree, put away the wrapping paper, put the money away in our wallets, (remember to take the sausage rolls out of the oven!)

We wait with baited breath, as we prepare to welcome the King of kings, the one who reigns supreme, the one who carries all authority on his shoulders.

Who is this King? He is wisdom, strength, eternal and loving, the bringer of peace.

May you know the King of kings, the Prince of Peace this Christmas. Gaze up at the balcony as he approaches.
