“Mental Health Week”

This mental health awareness week it is good to look out for one another but also for ourselves. Perhaps it is an opportunity to make that phone call we have been putting off or write that letter we have been meaning to send. As we connect with others we can not only encourage them but also ourselves.

During our current situation things can seem overwhelming and we may wonder how it will all pan out.

We can become really anxious when we look too far ahead and imagine the possible on going ramifications of Covid-19. So as well as looking ahead we need to live in the present.

The following was on my desktop calendar last week :-

We have a moment by moment Jesus who is involved in our moment by moment needs. His eternal peace is an abiding reality in our hearts- so are His joy,His mercies, and His grace. Even though we may have to wait for our circumstances to change,we never need to wait for His life within us to be our sufficiency. ( Roy Lessin).

I am reminded of the lyrics of this song by Lou Fellingham

He lavishes grace as our burdens grow greater
He sends us more strength as our labours increase
To added afflictions He offers more mercy
To multiplied trials He multiplies peace

When we have exhausted our store of endurance
When our strength has failed and the day is half done
When we’ve reached the end of our earthly resources

Our Father’s full giving is only begun
Our Father’s full giving is only begun
So lean hard
Lean hard
Lean on the everlasting arms
Lean hard
Lean hard

Lean on the everlasting arms
Lean on the everlasting arms
His love has no limits, His grace has no measure
His power has no boundary that’s known unto men
For out of His infinite riches in Jesus

He giveth and giveth and giveth again
He giveth and giveth and giveth again
So lean hard

Lean…
