So, this week I’m thinking ‘feet’ – following and sharing. Walking in His way alongside others and bringing others with us. We need to be true disciples, confident in the good news before we can share with others – this is the very thing Jesus commanded us to do before He ascended and possibly the thing we find hardest and we back away from most. It involves commitment and dedication.
Psalm 37:5 “Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him and He shall bring it to pass.” It’s about praying, then leaving the subject with Him, trusting that He’s got it. We have to leave it with Him. If we plant seeds, we cant keep revisiting them, digging them up to see if they’re growing. We may care and water them but we have to trust and leave them alone once sown. If you make a deposit at the bank, you wouldn’t keep returning to it to see if it’s still there! Commit your concerns to God, show Your faith by leaving them with Him. Then dedicate yourself to God, set yourself apart for Him in your prayer, choosing to consecrate or sanctify ourselves for the particular work or calling that God has placed on our lives. If we choose to set ourselves apart for God, we belong to Him. We are in His hands.
Prayer – O God,We pray as individuals, churches and a circuit that we may follow Christ faithfully and share His love with others. Show us what You would have us do. Help us to re-dedicate ourselves to Your work. May we commit our concerns to You and leave them there knowing they are safe in Your hands, just as we are. We pray for the churches of Alan Road, Felixstowe and Chantry – You know each intimately. Build up your disciples and give them courage and vision to share the good news of the Kingdom with all around them. Show and guide us to get the most out of the resources we have. Amen
