Loving acts

Continuing reflection on the Prayer Card from the Christian organisation called Medical Missionary News (https://mmn.uk.com), Tuesday’s prayer is for COMMUNITY HEALTHCARE PROGRAMMES.

“Many cannot afford to go to the hospital or clinic. Please pray for the mobile clinics, medical camps and home visits, as medical teams go out into the rural areas to give primary care to these communities.  Pray that as they do so, something of the love of Jesus will touch the patients, and this will give opportunity for the team to share the hope that the gospel brings.”

Once again, the prayer request relates to “the love of Jesus.” As mentioned in previous TFTD contributions, demonstrating the love of Jesus may be the opportunity to respond to a question, “Why do you do this?”

A young Christian, while at university, was involved with Street Pastors and came across a young woman who was very drunk and scantily clad. The Christian supplied her with a foil blanket and stayed with her while she was waiting for transport home, even though she was violently sick. That was her question as well, and gave the opportunity to share his reasons. Who knows what happened to the young lady, but that loving act may have been used by God the Holy Spirit sometime later.

An old hymn states, in the first verse

Not I, but Christ, be honoured, loved, exalted;
Not I, but Christ, be seen, be known, be heard;
Not I, but Christ, in every look and action,
Not I, but Christ, in every thought and word.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, one hymn reminds us that the love of Jesus is something wonderful. Please help us to demonstrate that divine love, for your glory. AMEN
