A recent personal Bible study was based on Genesis 6, verses 9 to 22, the story of Noah. I still find it amazing to learn of details that either remind me of forgotten verses or are possibly overlooked.
At the end of that passage, verse 21 in the translation used, “Be sure to take on board enough food for your family and for all the animals”. In verses 18 to 21, God instructed Noah as to every living creature to be included.
If that was not staggering enough the note writer suggested that it might have taken 75 years to build the ark. Over that long period, there would have been many opportunities for Noah to give up, but Hebrews 11 verse 7 tells us that he persisted in faith. Perhaps I should not be surprised because verse 9 informs the reader that “Noah was a righteous man, the only blameless person living on earth at the time, and he walked in close fellowship with God.”
The final verse in that reading states, “Noah did everything exactly as God had commanded him”. I suppose that is why God chose Noah! It makes me wonder why God chose me and how faithful I have been.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, please enable us to follow and obey You and may Noah’s example encourage us to face the challenges that you allow in our lives. AMEN
