Would you?

According to a legend, a king once placed a heavy stone in the roadway. Then he hid and watched to see what would happen. Many people passed by and grumbled and complained that the government was not doing their job in keeping the highways clear but no one assumed the job of pushing the stone into the gutter. Then a poor man walked past and decided to move the obstacle out of the way. To his surprise he found a bag full of gold embedded in the road beneath the stone and a note from the king saying that this was a reward to anyone who removed the troublesome object.

How many of us would have walked past the stone and complained or would we be like the poor man who discovered a hidden blessing. I know that for ages now I seem to spend quite a while complaining about potholes in our roads or trying to avoid ones which I know are there. Perhaps if it was a large obstacle I would stop and try to move it out of the way. Do we blame others for our troubles or do we accept responsibility and do something about it?

A prayer. Thank You Lord for being a blessing to us in times of trial. At times the blessing may be hidden from our human eyes, but in faith we know You are there. Thank You,” that we can do everything through him who gives us strength.”
