I really love robins and I like the idea of them being a messenger from God. I have two really old felt robins on my Christmas tree. They were my late mother-in-law’s. I also have two stained glass ones on my lounge window. For my birthday at the beginning of this year my son bought me a lovely Robin necklace which I wear a lot in the winter months. I saw the following little poem and thought that it would be a good one to share.
The Legend of the Christmas Robin.
“Legend tells how a Robin,
On the night of the first noel,
Braved the frosty winter night,
So the baby might sleep well.
Throughout the night, the small grey wings,
Did flutter for all their worth,
And fanned the fire that warmed the Christ,
His first night here on earth.
In the heat of stirring the lonely fire,
The Shepherds have it said,
That Robin wears with honour now,
A breast of Christmas Red.”
Thank You Father for sending your son to be our Saviour. May we remember that this is the time of year when we say “Happy Birthday Jesus.”
