Are we spending enough time?

When my friends visited recently Audrey told me that she was learning to play the harp. She was finding it quite difficult and she felt that she wasn’t practising nearly enough to progress. Finding the time was definitely not easy. She was very much in my mind on Tuesday at the Lilypad concert. Claudia, one of the musicians taking part, played the harp so beautifully.

In our spiritual lives, are we giving enough time to study our Bibles or to just sit quietly and pray? I know I’m guilty of not spending enough time in quiet contemplation. Is my faith life suffering?!

The following is a short prayer by Edward White Benson (1829-1896)

“O Lord, take away all coldness,

      all wanderings of the thought,

and fix our souls on You and Your love,

      O merciful Lord and Saviour.”

Ps. I sent a short clip of Claudia’s playing to Audrey to encourage her to keep going.
