I had the most wonderful time last weekend. Two of my very good friends from Northern Ireland, travelled to Felixstowe to visit me. They had a couple of mishaps coming over. Audrey “lost” her mobile with all the flight details etc on it but recovered it from security. When they arrived at Stansted there was an incident with their case so it took longer to get outside.
Meanwhile I was driving round numerous roundabouts waiting for a message to say that they were outside waiting to be picked up. Eventually I picked them up and we had a very straightforward journey to Felixstowe where my husband had prepared our lunch. I then took them to the Viewpoint to see the port and the rather large ships.
The weekend was spent talking a lot and eating a lot. I was quite shocked to hear about the health of some of the members of my previous church. So many were either looking after sick partners or were in care homes as they had Dementia. We swapped stories of what we were doing in our respective churches and I realised that there are problems everywhere but there are so many positive things happening as well.
Unfortunately, the weekend passed all too quickly and it was time to take them back to the airport but not before they had another little incident. At 3am on Sunday morning the alarm went off in the hotel and they had to evacuate to the carpark.
Good friends are one of the real treasures of this world. Their love and support can keep you going in stressful times. I miss my friends but we hope to have another “Adventure” next year.
Thank You, Lord, for all the friends in this world. They may be physically far apart from us but are very close in our hearts. Thank You for their support and encouragement and may we be a good friend to someone as well.
