Love

Over the past few weeks I have used the fruits of the Spirit as a theme for my TFTDs. After I had completed the last one on love this photo popped on my Instagram account – this makes me sound far more tech savvy than I am!

Instagram is a way of instantly sharing photos and messages with “followers.” Social media has had a lot of negative press recently, with some justification, however this message was something I felt exemplified the positive aspects of modern communication.

A very good friend from university was suddenly struck down whilst on a weekend break with the symptoms and signs of a stroke. She was away from home and her family, and had to spend several weeks in hospital. Her husband made the 2hour round trip every day to visit her.

Fortunately, she is now at home and is surrounded by friends and family who can help her recovery. Her sister, who has her own health problems, is in regular contact but is not able to visit as often as she would like so took it upon herself to send some flowers – hence the Instagram post.

Simple acts of kindness can show how much we love those who are far away from us.

In the words of the hymn,

“I will weep when you are weeping;

when you laugh, I’ll laugh with you.

I will share your joy and sorrow

’til we see this journey through.”
