No climbing required

I enjoyed reading Sue’s Thought for the Day on Wednesday. She mentioned that Zacchaeus was not very tall and pondered what it was like to be short. Well, I’m one of the short people. At the minute I’m about 4ft 10ins. I used to be about an inch and a half taller but the difference has gone to my width instead of staying on my height. When I was at Primary School my nickname was the Mighty Midget. It didn’t really bother me as even though I was short I was able to stand up for myself.

On another occasion when I was having my medical, prior to starting my nurse training in 1971, the doctor said, “Take a breath dear and stretch yourself up.” There was a requirement that our height had to be 5 feet. I did as I was told and passed my medical.

Many times, when I’m grocery shopping, I have to look for a taller person and ask for help to reach items which are on the top shelves. Perhaps I should bring my little step with me. I need it to reach things in my kitchen cupboards.

Zacchaeus solved his problem by climbing a tree so that he could see Jesus and then Jesus saw him.

Thankfully we don’t need to climb on anything for our Heavenly Father to see us. He is there for the short people as well as the tall ones, the fat ones and the thin ones.

He is there for everyone.
