The other day I was “sorting out” my handbag and right at the bottom I found a keyring which also is a little light. It was given to me by a very good friend who sadly is no longer with us. The message on it is “Life is better with friends.”
I miss my friend. We used to go for coffee and put the world to rights and we shared some very happy times and supported each other in the not so good times.
I also had a lovely surprise a few days ago as two of my friends who live in Northern Ireland are going to come to Felixstowe to visit me in September. I met up with them last year when I spent a few days in Bushmills. The years from when I last saw them just melted away as we caught up with each other’s news.
We need and rely on our friends to encourage us and support us and to share happy and sad times.
One of my favourite hymns is “What a friend we have in Jesus,” and what a wonderful message those words are.
Thank You, Lord, for being our friend.
