Jesus Christ, I think upon your sacrifice

In recent years, I have been amazed by the contrast in medical costs. For example, in at least one of the African countries healthcare may be obtained for the equivalent of £3 per annum BUT many families cannot afford that. In the USA, I was informed that the cost of an MRI scan would be $10,000 though with health insurance coverage the individual’s contribution might ONLY be $500.  Watching any of the A&E-based hospital programs, a doctor may say – “Let’s have a CT (or MRI) scan first”, and it makes me realise not only how blessed we are in the UK, but also how easy it is to fail to appreciate the cost of our medical care.

Such information reminds me of the hymn, Give me a sight, O Saviour. And the chorus

Oh, make me understand it, help me to take it in,
What it meant to Thee, the Holy One To bear away my sin.

It has been said, “The Christian doesn’t need an Easter festival, because for the Christian it is Easter every day”.

May God help us, regularly, to consider what the cost was for Jesus to bring us our salvation.

I cannot begin to understand the physical pain and suffering that Jesus endured, nor can I enter into the mental anguish. But this I do know, I have no appreciation or understanding of what it meant when a Holy God placed upon my Saviour, the punishment for the sins of the whole world.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, may the words of the chorus above, be my regular prayer. AMEN.
