Wonderful world

Do you ever find something you’re not looking for while you are searching for something else. I found the following poem by accident. It was written by an elderly gentleman in my previous church in N. Ireland.

We do not need to see a sign

To know that you are here,

We only have to look around

The signs are there.

The mighty roar of thunder

The flash of a lightning storm,

The power in the waves of a stormy sea

Gives us trust to believe in Thee.

The beauty of the sunset

The cool fresh breath of spring,

Hawthorn in the month of May

And to hear the blackbird sing.

The sign of a bright full moon

Stars in a cloudless sky,

The wonder of the seasons

As night rolls by.

The wonder of the world itself

And all the things therein,

Countless wonders in this world

Our minds cannot take in.

We do not need to see a sign

To know that You are here

We only have to look around

The signs are there.

As I’m writing this the sun is shining and my neighbourly blackbird is singing her heart out.

Thank you Lord for your wonderful world.
