Just after Easter, we walked the ‘Henley loop’ with my sister and brother in law. It was a bright breezy day but the ground was damp and muddy. I was bringing up the rear. Each time we came to a muddy patch, I would stop and assess how best to cross it. Could I skirt round the edges or maybe it wasn’t too deep and I could squelch through the middle? Well, I stood at the edge weighing up the pros and cons of how I should get across one puddle in front of me, but before I could plump for one way or the other, found myself with a bump sitting on my bottom in the middle of mud. Bit of a Vicar of Dibley moment!
Well, that’s gravity for you. We always fall down not up. But when you look into it the gravitational energy of the whole earth has been estimated to amount to only a millionth of a horse power! But gravity refuses to let go!
If you watch a TV programme about the Universe, you can guarantee gravity will feature. Gravitational pull appears to be virtually limitless, reaching across the universe – keeping the moon and planets in their orbits and the sun and stars rotating round the centre of the galaxy.
We can’t see it but if it suddenly stopped, there would be chaos. You may feel unnoticed, but everyone is important and valued in God’s sight. Hang on in there! Keep on praying; Keep on serving; Keep on loving; Don’t stop believing!
Don’t give up hope!
Luke 11: 9
‘Ask, and you will receive; seek, and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.’
