GOD OF SURPRISES

I have been going through some old Methodist Recorders to refresh in my mind some of the things I had read and then to throw them out.

I came across an article written by our President (and ex-Chair of our District), Rev Graham Thompson headed “Expect to be Surprised”.  He says “as we stand on the brink of another new Methodist year, I wonder what further surprises will come our way?

I am sure he could never have imagined what his surprises would be.  He was at the funeral of our dear Queen; he met King Charles along with other faith leaders and had a conversation with him; he was at the Cenotaph when our new King laid the Sovereign’s wreath; and he will be at the Coronation.

I began to wonder what my surprises have been.  The length of Autumn with some of the flowers still blooming; the very kind words from people in our church as we as a small team cope with the organisation of worship and property, etc; our grandaughter pregnant with twins after a still born baby last year; and many others when I really think about it.

What have your surprises been?

Let us thank our God of Surprises for all he does and will do for us and who is faithful in this and every generation.
