The Thought for the Day is from Luke 6 v 37.
Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven

A man was having difficulty communicating with his wife and concluded that she was becoming hard of hearing. So, he decided to conduct a test without her knowing about it.

One evening he sat in a chair on the far side of the room. Her back was to him and she couldn’t see him. Very quietly he whispered, “Can you hear me?” There was no response.

Moving a little closer, he asked again, “Can you hear me now?” Still no reply. Quietly he edged closer and whispered the same words, but still no answer. Finally, he moved right behind her chair and said, “Can you hear me now?” To his surprise and chagrin, she responded with irritation in her voice, “For the fourth time, yes.”

What a warning to us about judging! Jesus knew human nature well. That’s why He said, “Judge not, and you shall not be judged.

If you are looking for faults to correct, try looking in a mirror.

This reminds me of the Parable of the Sower. We would all like to be the seed that fell on good soil but there is good and bad in all so we must not judge others. It’s so easy to blame others or our tools if something is not right.

We may say our clothes are badly made if they don’t look good but perhaps it is the body underneath that needs reshaping. Sometimes when we cook a new dish and we’ve followed the recipe to the letter and it still isn’t as we thought it should have been, where do we put the blame?

Perhaps we could have done something slightly differently.

God does not judge us by our colour or creed. He wants us to show love, care and respect to others.

Please pray that we will set a good example of our Christian faith in action and not judge or blame others for our own faults.
