My son, Richard, relocated to Singapore in January. We obviously miss him very much but Drew and I were excited at the prospect of visiting him. Neither of us had ever been to Singapore before and we were looking forward to the holiday. As the date of our departure approached, I started to get increasingly worried about the trip. Did I have the correct documentation? How would we cope with the 13-hour flight? Would flying adversely affect my vertigo? How would Drew manage the long walks? I did what I should have done in the first place. I asked for prayer and handed my concerns to the Lord.
I relaxed and continued to pray. On the 1st May in Trinity we used the World Day of Prayer Service based on Jeremiah 29 v 11, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” I found this service most reassuring.
I’m very glad to say that we had a terrific journey to Singapore and are enjoying a super family time with our son.
I know that sometimes life’s journey can be difficult and today might seem like a dead end, but God promises He’s got it under control—–today, tomorrow and forever.
