Normality

I recently had a birthday card, not a significant one, although as I get older they are all significant!  One of my cards from a very good friend said:

Wishing you Happy
Back to Normal,
Near Normal,
Normal as there is,
Close to Normal
Birthday.

It made me wonder where I am.

I came to the conclusion that it often depends on where I am.  At home I am Back to Normal; in the shops I am Near Normal; in the street I am Close to Normal.

I wonder where you are?

The card was meant to give me a chuckle, which it did, but it also really made me think and I am wondering if we will only get back to Near Normal.

I think we now have to go forward in thankfulness that most of the pandemic has passed.  We have learnt how to cope and make more use of technology, which means we will go forward with new skills and appreciation of what we have.

In the words of the hymn:

This, this is the God we adore
Our faithful, unchangeable friend.………………………..
We’ll praise Him for all that is past
And trust Him for all that’s to come.
